Arizona State University is strengthened by Indigenous faculty, staff and institutional leaders whose scholarship, teaching and service advance Tribal sovereignty, community well-being and Indigenous futures.
Indigenous faculty and staff contribute across colleges, disciplines and administrative units — shaping education, research, policy, design, sustainability, engineering, health and governance.

Executive leadership
The Vice President and Special Advisor to the President on American Indian Affairs provides university-wide leadership on matters related to Tribal Nations engagement, Indigenous student success, research alignment and institutional strategy.
This role supports cross-campus coordination and executive-level consultation with Tribal governments and Indigenous partners.
Faculty across the university
Indigenous faculty across ASU contribute to teaching, scholarship, mentorship and community engagement aligned with Tribal sovereignty and Indigenous advancement. Faculty engagement reflects interdisciplinary collaboration and longstanding relationships with Tribal communities.

- Sustainability and environmental stewardship

- Health equity and bioethics
- Digital sovereignty and data governance

Engagement guidance for faculty and staff
Faculty and staff working with Tribal Nations are encouraged to coordinate with the Office of Tribal Nations Advancement and Indigenous Futures when appropriate. Our goal is to support respectful, consistent and relationship-based engagement across the university.
